Of Kindles and Free Kindle Downloads

Since Sean received his iPad a year and a half or so ago, we have been downloading free Kindle books to our Amazon account and Kindle app on his iPad. I have probably downloaded about 100 books for free.  Some I may never read, but some I downloaded specifically for the kidlets.  They have been reading a lot more recently and that has blessed my heart.  As Thomas enters high school this year, he will likely be reading more “classics” and most of these are available on the Kindle for free.

The kidlets still have money left from Christmas and finally decided the Kindle was what they wanted to spend the money.  We are starting with a refurbished Kindle Touch, I ordered it very early this morning.  I don’t plan on telling them about it until it arrived on Tuesday.  I am actually very proud of them for taking time to think about it and decide what they want instead of rushing to spend the money.  I am very proud of myself for not spending all the money on other things so they are left presentless and cashless. 🙂

Lately, I have been posting on Facebook links to free downloads from a friend who writes wonderful books with Christian undertones and themes.  As some of you know, I don’t care for fiction for the most part, but I do enjoy her books.  Well, my friend, Chautona Havig, is releasing the book in parts each Thursday free on Kindle until the entire books has been released. Check it out on her website Past Forward – Just the Write Escape.

Another way to make sure you don’t miss out on any of her free downloads is to sign up for her newsletter.  Once you sign up, you will be be kept up to date with all her new offerings both free and otherwise.

I hope you go to her site and download the section of Past Forward for free.  I have loved my free downloads for the Kindle and I am excited to be able to put it on the kidlet’s Kindle so I can read it, after they go to bed of course. 😉
