We have “given” each of our children a hymn before they were born. We have sung it to them while I was pregnant. We sing it to them on the day they are born. We sing it every birthday. We sing it when they are hurt and when they are happy. We sing these songs during family devotions. They often request “their song” during free sings at church. (We are often disappointed that we only sing a verse or two because for us, unless the entire song is sung, it really is not “sung”.) So, after much talk, prayer, discussion and singing we have decided on Cloud 9’s song. We are so excited. We love this song, focusing on the Lord and who He is.
Praise to the Lord, the Almighty
Words – Joachim Neander
Music – Stralsund Gesanbuch
Praise to the Lord, the Almighty, the King of creation!
O my soul, praise Him, for He is thy health and salvation!
All ye who hear, Now to His temple draw near;
Join me in glad adoration!
Praise to the Lord, who o’ver all things so wondrously reigneth.
Shelters thee under His wings, yea, so gently sustaineth!
Hast thou not seen How they desires have all been
Granted in what He ordaineth?
Praise to the Lord, who doth prosper thy work and defend thee;
Surely His goodness and mercy have daily attend thee.
Ponder anew What the Almighty can do
If with His love He befriend thee.
Praise to the Lord! O let all that is in me adore Him!
All that hath life and breath, come now with praises before Him!
Let the “men” Sound from His people again;
Gladly forever adore Him!
